Plan 1 loans are written off when you turn 65. Plan 2 loans are written off 30 years after the April you were first due to repay. Plan 5 loans are written off 40 years after the April you were first due to repay.

Can I make voluntary repayments?

Yes, you can make additional voluntary repayments at any time through the Student Loans Company. However, consider whether this is the best use of your money, as the loan doesn't affect your credit score and is written off eventually.
